Where is Camp Cooinda?

We are located on the Banksia Peninsula on the stunning Gippsland Lakes, Victoria, Australia, about 20km from Bairnsdale and 300km east of Melbourne.

From our base, campers paddle to explore the sandy shores and secret islands of the Gippsland Lakes.

Acknowledgement of Country

Camp Cooinda acknowledges the Gunaikurnai People as the Traditional Owners of the land and waterways where we camp, paddle and explore. We pay our respects to their Elders past and present — for they hold the memories, traditions, culture and hopes of their community.

Camp Cooinda is committed to being a culturally safe and welcoming environment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who are part of our camp community. We continue to learn, listen and reflect as part of our responsibility to support truth-telling, respect and reconciliation.
